NAH Accomplishments in 2066 B.S. (April 2009 – April 2010) |
Activities:
- Raised $10,534.17 for the NAH Emergency Fund aimed at providing financial assistance to the Houston Nepali community in emergency situations
- Set up the “NAH Briddhashram Fund,” disbursed $1,200 (N. Rs. 89,400) to the Briddhashram in Kathmandu, Nepal, run by Ms. Dil Sobha Shrestha, on Dec. 12
- Financially assisted two Nepali families who were victims of apartment fire in the Bay Area Blvd., Houston on Nov. 13, with a $500 donation from the NAH Emergency Fund, and a fundraiser
- Provided exhibition materials to Nepali Student Association at University of Houston, Clear Lake, for Global Expo on Nov. 16; they bagged the Most Educational Booth Award
- Organized the “Meet and Greet Program” to felicitate the World Cyclist from Nepal Mr. Lok Bandhu Karki and financially supported him through a fundraiser and a contribution of $260 from the NAH Fund
- Brought out 200 pieces of NAH Polo Shirts in September
- Held NAH Monthly meetings to obtain the feedback, suggestions, grievances, recommendations, etc., from the Houston Nepali Community
Celebrations:
- New Year 2066 B.S. (April 18) and Bada Dashain (Sept. 26)
- Participated in the Teej Celebration in Ashiana Restaurant on Aug. 22
- Organized the “Congratulate the Graduates” program to felicitate the new high- school, college and university graduates on Sept. 26
- Held a Farewell Reception for Dr. Bishnu Khanal in Ashiana Restaurant on Oct. 11
- Participated in the International Mother Language Day Celebration on Feb. 21
- Organized the NAH Annual Picnic on Nov. 13 at Hermann Park
- Observed the Fourth Anniversary of Shree Pashpatinath Mandir and Maha Shivaratri on Feb. 13
- Participated in the “Cultural Extravaganza” at Univ. Houston Clear Lake on March 26
Involvement in Nepali Organizations:
- Assumed the leadership role in the Local Hospitality Committee for the forthcoming 4th Non-Resident Nepalese (NRN) Regional Conference in Houston, May 28 - 30
- Participated in the Association of Nepalis in the Americas (ANA) Annual Convention in Oakland, California (July 3-4)
- NAH President Dr. Rajendra Shrestha presented the NRN Town Hall Meetings in Houston and Dallas on Aug. 29 and 30, respectively, on behalf of NRN NCC of USA
- NAH President Dr. Rajendra Shrestha participated in the NRN NCC of USA Annual Meeting in Louisville, KY on Feb. 20 – 21, and is currently serving in its Bylaws Amendment Committee
- Providing support to the “Earthquake Preparedness and Disaster Relief for Nepal”: A Joint Initiative by American Society of American Engineers, America Nepal Medical Foundation and Computer Association of Nepal – USA

- Nepal Vision, volume 8, thanks to the article contributors, article collectors, advertisement donors, marketing and printing / designing teams
